Crispy Air Fryer Banana Chips Recipe for Guilt-Free Snacking

  • Author: Thomas

Description

These crispy, homemade banana chips are the perfect healthy snack for anyone craving something sweet and crunchy without the guilt. Made with just a few simple ingredients—ripe bananas, coconut oil (or butter), cinnamon, and a pinch of salt—these air-fried chips are quick to make and incredibly satisfying. The air fryer ensures they come out perfectly crisp without the need for deep frying, giving you a lighter, crunchier alternative to store-bought chips.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe but firm bananas
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or melted butter
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the bananas: Peel the bananas and slice them into thin, even rounds, about ⅛ to ¼ inch thick.

2️⃣ Coat the banana slices: In a bowl, gently toss the banana slices with melted coconut oil or butter, ground cinnamon, sugar (if using), and a pinch of salt until they are evenly coated.

3️⃣ Preheat the air fryer: Set the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and let it preheat for about 3 minutes.

4️⃣ Arrange the banana slices: Place the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Make sure not to overcrowd them—if needed, cook in batches for best results.

5️⃣ Air fry the banana chips: Air fry the slices for 8-10 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. Keep a close eye on them, as they can brown quickly.

6️⃣ Cool and crisp up: Once golden and crisp, remove the chips from the air fryer and let them cool completely. As they cool, they will become even crispier.

7️⃣ Serve and store: Serve the chips immediately or store them in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Enjoy your guilt-free snack!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can try adding a dash of vanilla extract or a sprinkle of nutmeg.

  • If you prefer a sweeter taste, increase the sugar or drizzle a little honey over the chips after they’ve cooked.

  • To make them even crispier, leave the banana slices in the air fryer for an additional minute, but be cautious not to burn them.

  • These chips can be paired with yogurt, a smoothie, or enjoyed as a healthy snack on their own.
